Adjustable Voltage Regulator IC LM317
Aim: To study Adjustable Voltage Regulator Using IC LM 317
Reqriments: IC LM 317 , few resistor (220E,4.7KE) , Cap(100PF,1UF) , Load Resistor , DC variable Power Supply.
Introduction:
The LM317 is an adjustable 3 Terminal IC package Positive voltage regulator , Capable of supply in excess of 1.5A of current or 1.2 V to 37 V output Range the IC pin connection as Pin no-1 is adjustable and Vin is applied to pin - 2 and Vout is taken from pin-3. The IC is easy to use and require only few external components.to set output voltage the line regulation and load regulation are better standard fixed voltage regulator in addition the LM317 offer full over load protection circuit remains fully functionality in adjustment is disconnected.
Normally no capacitor are require unless the devices is mounted for the input filter capacitor in which case in input bypass capacitor is require an output capacitor generally can be added to input transconductance response.
Features:
1) Adjustable output voltage range 1.2V to 37V and current upto 1.5A. 0.01% Load regulation.
Produce :
1) Connect the circuit as shown in fig and apply the voltage.
2) Measure the voltage with varying the resistor R2 .
3)Use the formula and calculate Vout and compare between.
4) Observe Vout and Calculate Vout.
Conclusion:
In the adjustable voltage regulation using IC LM 317 in the observation Vout is appox. same with the calculate Vout.
