Aim:- To study Digital To Analog Converter[Binary weight resistor]
Requirment:- IC LA 741,Few Resistors(4.7K,15K,(5)),DC Variable Power Supply,Multimeter etc
Introduction:-A digital to Analog Converter is used when binary output (0&1) from a digital System must be converted to same equivalent analog voltage or Current the binary output from a digitalsystem is difficult to interprint however DA Converter mate interpreation
Above circuit is basically a summing amplifier (INV Amp) with binary weighted resistor ladder since the number of binary input is form the converter is called four bits converter since there are binary input B-0 to B-3 and analog output should have corresponding value. The switch from B0-to B-3 are oper or closed the binary weighted current will be setup in input resistance the sum of these current is equal to the current through RF which internal is converted a porportional output voltage. Each of the switch either be a high or low.
Thus the output voltage is a negative going stair case wave for with fifteen steps of 0-5v.Each the amplitude of steps depends on the value of RF. The max. output voltage should not exceeds the saturation voltage. for accurated operation of DA converter preasion metal film resistor are recommented for binary weighted resistor ladder.
The problem with a D.A converter is that it required binary weighted resistor which may not be readdly easy avaible if the number of input is more than four secondly the current through each resistor is twice biggest resistor hence resistor of different wattage as to be connected which makes the circuit different conture and alternative way is to use R& 2R resistor for a DA converter converter since it required only two set-of precession resistor value
Procedure:- 1) Connected the circuit as shown in fig & apply the voltage 2) Observe the output voltage at different digital inputs with the help of switich B0-to-B3. 3)Make the observation Table.
Conclusion:-In D/A converter we observe that if we get voltage in binary means digital (0&1)state we get output in analog state as different condition the observe output voltage and it compare with calculated output voltage and it compare with calculated output voltage.
