CHECKING OF CAPACITOR
AIM: - To study capacitor checking with the help of multimeter.
APPARATUS: - Capacitor, multimeter and connecting wire.
PRECAUTION:- Identify the types of capacitor and mark the value.
INTRODUCTION:- Capacitor is device which stores electrical energy, it contains two metallic plates separated by an dielectric material, The capacitance is measured in Farad (F) and its calculated by C=KA/d*11.3 this value is very use full in electronic circuits to fulfill various purpose like filtering coupling etc.
PROCEDURE: -
1) Get required material stores.
2) Get the multimeter and keep carefully on.
3) Adjust multimeter to ohmic range.
4) Connect the capacitor to deflection point over scale.
5) If the pointer deflected and come back to the value of capacitor, it set to be OK.
6) If pointer is deflected once does not comes to high resistance side. The capacitor is set to be short.
7) If pointer is not deflected at all capacitor is set to be open but not this position is only for high value.
8) The low value capacitor can be enclosed with LDR instrument, repeat same procedure other capacitor, note observation table.
CONCLUSION: - After checking the capacitor we get result from that capacitor is OK or not.
